THE BOUTIQUE HOTEL

Bahia Mar has a total of 4 houses. Each house comprises of 2 (two) sea view bedrooms next to each other on the top floor, and 1 beach suite on the ground floor. This is the total of 12 bedrooms as described below:

Sea View Bedroom (a total of 8 units)

  • Located on the upstairs floor,
  • En-suite bedroom with a queen-sized bed, shower, large veranda with sun beds and sea view overlooking the Bazaruto islands,
  • This bedroom can sleep a single person or two people sharing a bed,
  • Extra beds cannot be added to this room type – only baby cots
  • A child below 2 years old (sleeping in a cot) is free of charge.

Luxury Beach Suite (a total of 3 units):

  • Located on the downstairs floor,
  • Pied-à-terre self-catering unit with king-sized bed, en-suite bath and shower, DSTV, open plan lounge and fully equipped kitchenette, a private BBQ outside, terrace with sunbeds and a private splash pool,
  • This bedroom can sleep a single person or two people sharing a bed,
  • 2 children below 11 years old (bunk-bed), a child below 1 year old (sleeping in a cot) are free of charge.

Presidential Suite:

  • Private pied-à-terre luxury self-catering unit with en-suite king- sized bedroom, DSTV, lounge and fully equipped kitchenette, a private barbecue area in the garden, a terrace with sunbeds and a private splash pool,
  • This bedroom can sleep a single person or two people sharing a bed,
  • 2 children below 11 years old (bunk-bed), a child below 1 year old (sleeping in a cot) are free of charge.

Family Unit (a total of 4 units):
Bahia Mar offers the option of the whole unit. The ideal choice for a family. This unit consist of two double Sea view Rooms on the first floor and one pied-à-terre Luxury Beach Suite on the ground floor. Both as described above.

The breakfast (included in the rate)

Typically presented in a buffet, our continental breakfast is a light morning meal that includes home made fresh bread and toast, fruit juice and hot beverages. Additionally there is a selection of home-made jams and honey, cereals, yogurts, tropical fresh fruit salad and pastry of the day like muffins, flap jacks or croissants. We also include various options on a hot breakfast – you have a delicious breakfast menu to choose from. Expressos and cappuccinos are charged for additionally.

A La Carte Restaurant

Our A La Carte Restaurant can accommodate 32 pax on the outside terrace plus 32 pax inside. We also have a star deck overlooking the islands for romantic dinners and special nights.Our food is a fusion of organic and healthy recipes created with typical Mozambican ingredients. Half board supplement has an additional cost includes a 3 course A La Carte meal. Doesn’t include drinks.

The Business Centre

Up to 80 seat conference room equipped with facilities including a projection screen, video projector, microphone and sound system.We also offer catering services and team building programs.

With its superb location and magnificent pool area, Bahia Mar provides the perfect venue for major events. We can host private functions, be it a wedding, banquet, company BBQ or private luncheon. Our a la carte restaurant, two bars, large infinity pool and friendly staff are available for any function.

Wellness Centre

Health and wellbeing are a focus at Bahia Mar. Our Wellness Centre comprises a state-of-the-art gymnasium, a group class room, an outside Zen garden and 2 Massage rooms overlooking the islands.
Massage Treatments & Therapies
Our different treatments are designed to both unwind and rejuvenate.
Massages: Relaxing, Relaxo therapy, Ayurvedic, Hot Stones, Garshana and others. Body treatments: We offer different types of exfoliation, deep hydration and a selection of different body warps. Facials, anti- aging, feet treatment are also available at our wellness centre.

Gymnasium

Equipped with the latest in cardiovascular and muscle toning apparatus, our gym facilitates a complete workout. We have installed the revolutionary Queenax compact exercise station to provide functional, suspension resistance and reaction training in one easy-to-use apparatus. Our qualified instructors will also put you through your paces offering group sessions or individual training. Classes like aerobics, aero-step, fitness circuits and anti-gravitational provide a good workout for all fitness levels.

ACTIVITIES

The small fishing village of Vilankulo is considered the gateway to the Bazaruto Archipelago, which consists of 5 picture-perfect islands, all situated within the National Marine Park. We are privileged to share these breath-taking attractions with our guests. We will provide free transport to and from most of the activities within Vilankulo.

LOCATION

Bahia Mar Club is situated just 8km from the Vilankulo International Airport. The lodge arranges transfers for guests to and from the airport.

Flying

Vilanculos hosts an international airport with flights departing to and from Maputo and Johannesburg on a daily basis. There are also flights from KMIA (Nelspruit) to Vilanculos twice weekly. The International Airport is serviced by LAM and by Airlink.

Driving

The roads to Vilanculos are acceptable and tarred, but look out for potholes en route; a 4×4 is not a necessity. We do not suggest travelling at night in Mozambique. Fuel is readily available, but it is suggested to fill up whenever possible. Unleaded fuel is available in Vilanculos.
Getting your vehicle and boat into Mozambique

Please ensure you bring a valid Identity Document with driver’s licence (S.A.D.C. or INTERNATIONAL) as well as your ORIGINAL vehicle registration documents. Mozambican temporary import permits for all vehicles (including boat trailer) are obtainable at all border posts and are valid for 30 days. 3rd Party insurance is compulsory and can be bought upon entry at R150.00 per vehicle and R80 per trailer. You will need a permit to launch your boat, which is available at any Maritime office in any major town.

Driving tips

You do not need a 4 x 4 to get to from South Africa to Vilanculos, as the road is tarred all the way. We do however urge you to ensure that your vehicle is in reliable roadworthy condition, as the roads can be unpredictable. Keep to the speed limits. This is usually 30 kmph – 50 kmph in towns and 120 kmph on the open road.

It is advisable to keep your fuel tank filled as the distances between filling stations could cause problems and stations occasionally run out or have intermittent electrical supply to run their pumps. There are filling stations in Maputo, Macia, Xai-Xai, Quissico, Inhambane, Maxixe, Massinga, Vilanculos and Inhassoro.
