LOCATION

Pestana Kruger Lodge is just 150 meters away from the most important entrance on the south side of the Kruger National Park – Malelane Gate – and is the ideal place for the whole family. It is located on the Nkomazi Tourist, The Wild Frontier, in Mpumalanga. The Hotel is set amongst wonderful gardens and has a fantastic view over the Crocodile River where hippos and other wildlife abound. The Crocodile River borders the Kruger National Park. The Kruger National Park has almost 2,000 km of roads and 6 permanent rivers that cross the savannah within the park. It is home to a vast number of different animals and countless species of all kinds. It is the habitat of countless species, and tourists here will have the ideal opportunity to observe at close quarters the “Big 5” – the Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo and Rhinoceros, not to mention 336 types of tree, 49 species of fish, 114 types of reptiles and 507 species of birds, and innumerable giraffe, monkeys, zebras and antelopes.

9km from the Lodge is the town of Malelane which developed as a result of the building of the railway line that was started in 1828 to link the old Transvaal to Maputo as this was an independent port. In 1884 the Portuguese started building the line in their colony. Due to various occupations and wars the line could only be completed in 1894, and the then President Paul Kruger opened the Oosterlijn. Pestana Kruger Lodge is an hour drive from Swaziland and two hours from Maputo, making it an ideal location to visit 3 countries in one day! The cosmopolitan city of Nelspruit is a 45km drive and offers a wide range of shops.

BUHLEBETHU Restaurant
This is the restaurant located in the Lodge and has a view of the Crocodile River. It is truly a unique setting with a magnificent view over the river and luxuriant vegetation where game can be viewed while dining. it is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, offering la carte service with contemporary South African cuisine.Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 10:00, lunch from 11:00 to 17:00 and dinner from 19:00 to 22:00. Breakfast packs are available on request for those setting off early in the day.

CROCAFELLAS Restaurant
It is situated right at the entrance to the Pestana Kruger Lodge and has a capacity for 120 persons. The restaurant is located over the water inhabited by 7 crocodiles.It is open from 9h30 to 18h30, from Tuesday to Sunday and offers an African Bistro Style Menu. Dinner is operated on Thursday, Friday and Saturday Evenings. This venue may be booked for private functions.

ROOM SERVICE
This operates from 07:00 – 22:00, light cold sandwiches and salads are available.

BOMA
This is an experience you cannot miss!! The Boma is an African tradition that offers a typical dinner in an outdoor setting, served around the campfire.
These meals must be requested in advance and can be ordered for a minimum of 20 people up to a maximum of 150.

ESHONALANGA Bar
Open daily from 10:00 to 24:00. Sip an exotic cocktail while watching the sunset, in the bar or view-deck while the game come to drink at the Crocodile River.

POOL Bar
Open daily in summer from 10:00 to 17:00 serving light meals and drinks.

GETTING HERE

There are various ways of reaching the Pestana Kruger Lodge. By road, from Johannesburg or Maputo (see below), or by plane using the Nelspruit International Airport or Johannesburg International Airport.

From Johannesburg

• Take the Witbank Road N12
• N12 becomes the N4 continue to Nelspruit
• Continue on the N4 through Nelspruit to the town of Malelane
• Continue through Malelane on the N4+- 6 Km after Malelane sign board on left hand side, Kruger National Park R570 Turn left into the R570 continue for +- 3kmPestana Kruger Lodge is located on the left hand side.

From Maputo

• Take the N4 to the Ressano Garcia Border.
• Continue on N4 pass Hectorspruit.
